Born: July 12, 1884 -- died: January 24, 1920 One of the most popular artists of the 20th century. He was one of the many great artists who worked in the Montparnasse district of Paris during an era of great creativity. Modigliani had to struggle against poverty and chronic ill health, dying of tuberculosis and excesses of drink and drugs at the age of 35 and is buried in Le Pere Lachaise Cemetery , Paris, France.
His many works include: Adrienne (Woman with Bangs), 1917; Cafe Singer, 1917; Chaim Soutine, 1917; Girl in a Green Blouse, 1917; Gypsy Woman with Baby, 1919; Leon Bakst, 1917; Madame Amedee (Woman with Cigarette), 1918; Madame Kisling, c. 1917; Monsieur Deleu, 1916; Nude on a Blue Cushion, 1917; Nude on a Divan, 1918; Woman with Red Hair, 1917. His sculpture includes: Head of a Woman, 1910/1911.
